This museum has a little bit for everybody. The woman who worked there knew exactly where to direct us so our boys (6&3) would have fun. We went late in the afternoon on a Saturday this spring and were the only ones in there for a bit. Worth checking out if you're in the area.

This is an amazing museum filled with history. The displays are amazing with so many different minerals, polished stones, meteorites, and even moon rocks. This is a walk at your own pace (5 floor Museum). You can spend a good 1-2 hours here if you read each story line under the pictures. There is also a gift shop on the premises.

A good amount of super cool rock displays, but they have a bit of glare most of the time for high definition pictures. Lots of cool history about mining processes and mining history too. Set in Leadville, a high altitude town with great views.

Pretty large museum of mining. Many interesting exhibitions. I was surprised that not many visitors. Mostly they geology and history of mining.Reception lady was very helpful to give us information about Leadville area. Must visit if you are in the area. Beautiful historic mining town.

Be aware as a tourist not from Colorado, Leadville is at a high altitude, so bring water and advil. You'll be out of energy faster than you realize. Especially walking through this museum. Lots to see on different levels of the building. The interactive mines that they have are very cool. All the mineral samples from different places. There is a lot to learn. We had a great time.
