Vivian (Hadley Robinson), a seemingly shy 16-year-old, has always preferred to keep her head down and fly under the radar. But when the arrival of a new student (Alycia Pascual-Peña) forces her to examine the unchecked behavior of her fellow students running rampant at her high school, Vivian realizes she's fed up. Inspired by her mother's (Amy Poehler) rebellious past, Vivian anonymously publishes an underground zine called Moxie to expose bias and wrongdoing in her high school, and unexpectedly sparks a movement. Now at the center of a revolution, Vivian begins to forge new friendships with other young women and allies, reaching across the divide of cliques and clubs as they learn to navigate the highs and lows of high school together.

This movie did well at depicting the process of someone trying to care about a topic, who is not completely affected by it. Hence Lucy being the muse and Vivian acting as a catalyst. The character flaws make them human, like the girl at the end being proud of causing the mascot guy to break his arm- and everyone cheering for her. Even though he was in attendance supporting the group, and was just as much a victim of the ‘men' as they were. (The high-fiving incident). The fact that these sorts of incidents were included in the film makes me think it was intentional, and you need to read between the lines to see the actual characters development is not as linear as it seems. Should they have gone to the women's soccer event instead? yes. Should they have shown the main guy actually suffering from the consequences of his actions? maybe. The reason for why they didn't is because this conversation still needs to be had, even if it's with yourself as you watch the film. Outside of that, some of the dialect between the students seemed out of touch for a film depicting Gen-Z. It had the potential to say more- but didn't, or chose not to.
