✨ I’d like to thank me. ✨ I’ve put in the work, had the courage to take the calculated risks and loved every moment of growth. But I know it didn’t happen alone.I had great mentors and managers, and surrounded myself with interesting, talented people who came from diverse backgrounds who all helped shape me as a leader. And now, as I occupy that seat, I am very aware that every interaction leaves behind an impression. I know this because of the people I have met over the course of my career who have inadvertently mentored me or taught me something that forever changed the course of my career.I wanted to start my week with messages of gratitude for those who have opened doors for me and been excellent examples of leadership. * Amy Gillespie & Sarah Devaney who quite literally opened up the world of opportunities with a move to a new country that refined my global competencies. I got to enhance my cultural intelligence and effectively communicate across international cultures. * Lisa Sepulveda for showing me that a woman in leadership can be full of compassion and kindness, and still be taken seriously in the room.* Ehrin Van Marter for being an example of gravitas, self-assuredness, and decisiveness without any apology.* Amanda Glasgow for speaking my name in rooms I wasn’t in, and making sure I had access to great work where I could make significant impact.* Christie Bishop for setting the example that optimism has a role in the workplace. People are always motivated and energized by optimism.* Alan T. Kercinik for showing me that creative work takes courage, especially if you want to drive innovation.* Chris Manzini for setting the standard of what excellence looks like when running a business.✨ ✨ ✨ ✨ ✨ ✨ ✨ ✨ ✨ ✨ Who are the significant players in your career? How have they helped, guided or mentored you? Drop them a note!

Learned of a new holiday today 😊Everyone that’s managed a team aspires to not just be a boss, but to be a leader that is respected by their team. Respect is not something that comes from sitting higher up in the org chart. It comes from understanding, empathizing, and genuinely caring for the well-being of every team member. It's about being present, listening, and being there to support them when they need it most.A lot of effort, time, and thought goes into managing a team successfully in this day and age. It’s not just about giving instructions and meeting deliverables; it’s about creating an environment where those in the team and those who interact with the team can thrive and excel. It's about fostering a culture of collaboration, where every member's strengths are acknowledged and contributions celebrated. It's about not only getting the job done but also enjoying the journey and positively influencing each other to do better. These kind words by Imad Dounia are a nice reminder of why I come into work every day. Imad, I appreciate your words, and it's an honor to be a part of a team that's not just about work but about growth, camaraderie, and creating a positive impact. Let's keep striving for excellence together! 🙌#Leadership#Teamwork#BossAppreciation#WorkplaceCulture#PositiveImpact#ProfessionalGrowth

Work can be an absolute nightmare, and saying we’re in love with our job every single day would just be a lie! Fortunately, my team has always been very good at celebrating successes internally, and today is no exception to that as I celebrate my work anniversary at Unicity International.I am usually not the type of person to take risks or to take on challenges that I don't know if I'll succeed or not. I always want to know I'll come out as the winner before I enter any endeavor. But for Unicity, I took the leap even when the firm seemed out of my expertise. To my surprise, they saw the potential in me to lead and train despite not having much professional experience in this line of work.Throughout my stay in the company, I received continuous challenges that pushed me to expand and build my business acumen and conflict management skills. But the aspect that my team influenced me the most, is my overall vision of a better working environment. In that vision, I was able to share and help propagate this purpose of nurturing team members by training and enabling them to be their absolute best. I believe that the guidance, praise, and feedback that I have received from colleagues, seniors, and clients were all equally integral in building my exceptional Unicity experience, and I hope they all know how grateful I am that they put their trust and faith in me.For me, working in the corporate world, or in any kind of industry, is never a sprint, race, or game of who never stumbled or failed. You are your own world and your narrative is uniquely yours. So continue to persist no matter what. No matter how cosmic or intimidating an opportunity is, take that step! You'll never know how capable and ready you really are if you don't try. Remember, trying is only half the game, so take courage and leap forward! Exciting times ahead! And I can only look forward to improving from my previous best. Thank you, Unicity. 💙

Great evening with The Marketing Society and the inspiring Amanda Blanc CEO Aviva. She has an amazing story and talked candidly about her leadership style and how she faced into sexist behaviour. Some key take outs for me:1. Performance and communication are key. As Amanda says ‘it’s showtime!’2. You have to optimistic but also honest with people. They need to know what good is like. 3. Make sure everyone knows the priorities and can translate into their role. Aviva has 4 and everyone knows them. 4. Execution is more important than strategy. Sometimes strategy take too long and there isn’t time for great execution. 5. Integrity is the most important skill of a leader. Do as you say. Call out bad behaviour. 6. Everyone has to show they create value. Demonstrate your worth in what you do everyday (including for Amanda as CEO). 7. Whilst you need to operate now, have a long term view. Aviva think 40 years out. Politics is sometimes only 4m - too short-term. 8. Think about your impact statement. When you meet a new group, what will you say early on that resonate and gets them to listen.Big thank you to Sophie Devonshire⚡️ for hosting.

Today I received a thank-you note for the help and support I gave on the difficult road to becoming a manager. I was very touched and proud that these people managed to achieve their personal goals. Each of these people was different, with different life experiences and different approaches to solving everyday challenges. Each of these people overcame countless barriers and problems, took one step back and then took three steps forward, each of these people had their own individual approach to achieving their goal. Whats important for me is, that Each of these people has allowed me to witness the incredible journey they have had over the last few months. What have I learned from them, what they remind me? - the great range of possibilities in overcoming everyday obstacles- the importance of using the many resources we have around us- if you really care about something and it is important to you, even a language or cultural barrier cannot hold you back- from every stumble you can learn a valuable lessonSo…..who should thank whom?To All Managers and Team Leaders - support each other and help each other grow - its mutual benefit ☺️

Achievements are what you accomplished in the role while an award is the recognition that you received from others to say well done for making a specific difference. Whether an award is educational, work-related or industry-based, it is a shining beacon to highlight the scale of achievements.#motilaloswal #alliance #advisory
