Recognizing the critical need for effective reentry strategies, Nebraska prisons are pioneering a transformative approach with the "5-Keys for Wellbeing Development" program. This three-year initiative focuses on healthy thinking, positive relationships, and meaningful work. The program features courses like "Unlocking Your Thinking," "Ideas for Better Communication," and "Building Social Networks."By using peers as guides, Nebraska aims to reduce recidivism and prison overcrowding, setting a new standard for rehabilitation and successful reintegration.

It’s official! 🎉 On Friday, December 15th, REFORM passed Senate Bill 838 in Pennsylvania, creating second chances for hundreds of thousands of Pennsylvanians on probation. Thanks to Senate Bill 838 ➡️ https://bit.ly/PASB838✅ 120,000 + people will be able to get their probation terminated early✅ 300,000+ people will live with fewer restrictions and will be spared from incarceration for technical violations✅ Hundreds of thousands of people who struggle to pay fines and fees will benefit from a system that takes their financial situation into account. We’re thrilled to share that with this victory in PA, REFORM has officially created pathways for more than 800,000 people to exit the supervision system across 11 different states. We want to thank our legislative champions, our justice-impacted community, and the Pennsylvania Safety Coalition for never giving up hope and sticking together to pass this bill. And of course, a huge thank you to Governor Shapiro for his partnership since day one. #sb838 #probationreform #probation #supervision #philadelphia #formerlyincarcerated #incarcerated #prison #jail #reformalliance #meekmill #michaelrubin

“Giving someone a #secondchance means that my daughter and I can live in a community where people have an opportunity to thrive and families stay together. Too often, our supervision system keeps people trapped, rather than putting them on a pathway to work, stability, and wellness. That’s why #secondchances are so important - and they cannot happen without the partnership of the community providing opportunities and supporting those who want to contribute back to society. Every single one of us has benefitted from a second chance at some point in our life. And that’s why I’m so proud to lead the Indiana Secure Communities Coalition. We have an amazing group of organizations and individuals from across the political spectrum working to transform our state’s supervision system into one that creates stronger, safer, and more meaningful second chances for Hoosiers.” - Maranda Williams, Indiana State Organizer👐Join Me! 👐 https://bit.ly/3K4qVHp

Unstable housing is one of the most significant contributing factors to youth vulnerability and violence in Indianapolis. 🏠According to Kia Wright, Founder of @voicescorp, many kids are abandoned by their parents and end up in repeated run-ins with law enforcement, further straining family bonds and creating a devastating cycle that lacks the basic support they need. “They need love, they need attention. They need to be affirmed in who they are. There's a huge narrative out there about young people that I'm trying to change,” says Wright.Voices is an Indianapolis-based organization that looks to empower struggling youth to enhance their life. The west side apartment complex, known as Jake’s Place, aims to provide young adults with housing and assistance, but also teach them how to live independently.Thank you @voicescorp for providing Indianapolis youth with a #secondchance, and the necessary resources to not only survive but thrive. We are so lucky to have you as an Indiana Secure Communities Coalition partner. ❤️

"The Small Business Administration (SBA) provided more than $50 billion in loans to small businesses across the country last year. Last month, the SBA finalized a rule that will eliminate the bar on accessing SBA funds for people on probation or parole. The rule also eliminates a deterrent to seeking loans by eliminating standard questions about one’s criminal background from SBA loan forms. Expanding access to entrepreneurship facilitates successful reentry of formerly incarcerated individuals while also creating economic growth that benefits the whole nation." - The White House
