What can you buy with a NationsBenefits OTC card? ›

A: Once your plan has started, you can use your Benefits Prepaid Card to help pay for eligible OTC items. Eligible items include brand-name and generic, store brand vitamins, first aid supplies, pain relievers, and more.

However, using your Benefits Prepaid Card in person at Walmart or other approved retail stores is accepted. Your card can be used at participating stores. Please go to MyBenefits.NationsBenefits.com to order online or search for participating stores near you.

Using Your OTC Benefit

As a Health Partners Medicare Special member, your benefit covers up to $300 of OTC items during each three months of the plan year. Unused amounts are not carried over to the next quarter.

When you check out, just swipe your OTC and Wellness Rewards card as credit for payment. All eligible purchases will be automatically deducted from your over-the-counter allowance and/or Wellness Rewards balance. You do not need a prescription for items. You can also shop for select eligible items online or by phone.

A: Yes, you can use your card to make a payment if the bill is in the name of a relative or caretaker. The utility bill does not have to be in your name.

If you have the Transportation wallet included in your benefit, your card will only work for gas at the pump and not inside the convenience store.

You can also get everyday items like laundry detergent, soap and toothbrushes.

OTC items are not eligible for reimbursem*nt if they are normally used for general health, are not used to treat a medical condition (e.g. toothpaste, mouthwash, lotion, shampoo) or are cosmetic in nature (e.g. teeth whitening products, wrinkle reducers). See additional examples in the OTC Chart.

How Your OTC Benefit Works. At the beginning of each calendar quarter, your OTC card is loaded with the quarterly OTC amount for your plan. *Starting in 2024, Access PPO members receive a Visa® Flex Advantage spending card to access your OTC benefit.

What foods can I get with my OTC card? ›

Examples of approved food items are fruits, vegetables, meats, poultry, seafood, eggs, dairy, rice, pasta, beans, and much more.

How do I know if I can use my OTC benefit card on specific items? To confirm item eligibility, call your OTC plan provider at the number listed on the back of your card.

Items that do not qualify include non-food and pet items, alcohol, baby formula, candy, chips, coffee shop items, desserts, fresh baked goods, soda, and tobacco. To check if an item is approved, members can download the Healthy Benefits Plus app, scan the product and it will advise if item is allowable.
